4 Reasons to continue to Pipeline top talent

Top 4 reasons why you should continually search for great candidates (Pipelining). Pipelining candidates is not a new concept, but many companies are focused on making sure their current opportunities are filled and do not have the time to focus on future openings.

Following are some key reasons to ensure you have candidates for future openings and or needed replacements:

1)     It helps you find the best talent!!!  You may not have an immediate need and a candidate may not be looking to make a change in employment.  However, that connection may be crucial when the time comes to add to your team!   Keeping this future talent engaged and interested in your company will be challenging, but regularly touching base with them goes a long way.

2)     Having great talent on-hand enables you to make better employee decisions - Having folks in the pipeline helps us be better managers and lowers our Time to Fill!  (Less business interruption).  Ram Charan recently wrote an article for the Harvard Business Review in which he spoke of having pipeline candidate in order to be able to “Pivot” if a leader is does not have “critical capabilities” needed for the position for which they were hired. *

3)     Lowers your cost per hire by decreasing the likelihood of business interruption.  When someone leaves, in addition to a customer service interruption you may also lose time needed to interview and hire the replacement.  Time is money!  Having candidates ready to go is crucial!

4)     Create more engaged employees by not having them work overtime.  When someone leaves, their job responsibilities often fall on the remaining employees which creates rapid burnout!
