Tips on staying connected

Aristotle once wrote “Man is by nature a social animal”.  The Covid Pandemic has been tough for many people to stay connected as social distancing has becomes the new normal.  As we look forward to a new year, we have some tips on how to stay connected in a remote world.

·        Become a storyteller – sharing of ourselves is essential to our human existence.  While the purpose of conversations (via Zoom or phone) is to stay connected, that can be harder as some find it a less emotionally intimate environment. However, studies have shown that sharing our thoughts and feelings create connections with those around us. It allows others to see us as humans and return the experience in kind.

·        Little gestures become grand – send a quick note to someone letting them know they are on your mind. We never know what others may be experiencing, so a little note can go a long way to brightening their day.

·        Say thank you – yes, this seems elementary, but people appreciate our gratefulness.  In a world where social distancing often creates barriers, a few words of thankfulness can change someone’s day.  Whether it is in the supermarket checkout line or even to your waste collector, people will remember your kindness and how it made them feel.

·        Make a point to keep in touch – as many of us have been accustomed to seeing our friends and family regularly in person.  While the Covid Pandemic has shifted the way we keep in touch, it is important to make that effort and reach out to our friends and family.  Send them a quick text or call on the telephone to ensure the communication is continuing.

At CG Recruiting Services, we are grateful for our connections in 2020 and 2021.  We are thankful for our client’s trust in us and for the amazing candidates we have worked with this year.  We wish all a healthy and safe 2022.
